Anas Mohammad’s Three Minute Thesis

High-Fidelity Simulation: A New Method for Improving Medication Administration Skills of Undergraduate Nursing Students in Jordan

The occurrence of errors in administering medicines has been on the increase amongst nursing students and thus can cause patients dire unexpected outcomes like having to be hospitalized and can even result in their deaths. Overreliance on traditional teaching methods and greater demand and competition among nursing schools for clinical placements are some barriers to expanding nursing students’ medication administration practices. Organizations like the World Health Organization in the Middle East and the Jordanian Nursing Council highlight the problem of MEs as one of the top research priorities and raised an urgent call for nursing schools to introduce new educational methods to teach future nurses safe medication administration. My dissertation research responds to this call for action, by conducting the first study using this approach in Jordan.
